What’s New in GA4?
How to Switch your Universal Analytics Account to GA4?
How can GA4 make Reporting super smooth?
How to utilise GA4 reports to make business decisions?
Features make GA4 Different from Universal Analytics?
The main difference between Google Analytics 4 and Universal Analytics is that GA4 lets you understand the activities performed on both the website and the application.
GA4 reflects data in the form of users and events – not sessions, as we’ve been used to.
(Each user interaction is treated as a separate event in an events-based approach.)
Actually, shifting the focus from sessions to events GA4 helps marketer and entrepreneur to do cross-platform analysis in a detailed way. WHICH IS ACTUALLY A GOOD THING TO MAKE SOME SOLID BUSINESS DECISIONS.
But, still if your question is…. Do we need to switch to GA4?
Then I would say, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CHOICE.
See The Tool Notification, We Need To Make Hurry Because From 1st July 2023 current universal analytics tool won’t be able to capture the new data.
How to Switch your Universal Analytics Account to GA4?
Well that is soooo simple. Let me guide you through the process…
There will be three cases when you select GA4 as your default reporting account.
I will share the scenarios. But, you are the one who needs to choose 1 scenario as per your requirements: Let’s begin….
- What if, I already have a universal analytics account on one id and want to keep the UA with new property?
In this case,
- Just go to the admin section of Universal Analytics. Admin section is present in the lower left hand side on the dashboard.
- Now from the account section select the account for which you want to create GA4
- Now, go to the property section and select UA (Universal Analytics) property which is active for your website stats collection
- Now Click on GA4 Setup Assistant.
- Now click on the blue button: “GET STARTED”
This section will help you to create a new GA4 property and will keep the Universal analytics property as it is. (Which Means No Data Loss)**
- Now, Click on create property:
How to verify the new GA4 property?
Note: The GA4 setup assistant works automatically with gtag.js.
And in case you are using website builders such as WordPress, Wix, etc., you will need to add the Analytics tag yourself.
But, I would recommend using GTM to verify the GA4 property. (Easiest and fastest way) 😀
Now if you have verified the GA4 property. Let’s explore the dashboard:
Now see the magic of Events:
Yes, GA4 offers enhanced measurement functionality which gets activated automatically.
In this you will get automatic events like page scroll, purchase downloads etc.
But you need to set up form submission and other tracking factors. You need to set up the tracking via custom code only.
Tip: If you want to see these enhanced measurement functionality events in the conversation section you need to mark these events as goals.
